For 36 pages I might pay $.99 but not $2.99. I saw one the other day for $2.99 for 99 pages and would not buy. Ani5er author recommendEd it and still would not buy.
I wouldn’t buy a book of 36 pages for 2.99 unless it was damn good. I doubt it would be though.

I'm not sure if this will help you decide or not,but another author I recently started following has a new book coming out in February. It's the beginning of a new series. It's only gonna be 36 pages. It's gonna be 2.99. But, you already know my thoughts on your book.
Like most others here, if it’s an author I regularly read I would pay regardless of word count. For all else, I am usually not happy if I purchase a book and find a collection of chapters that should have just been compiled and published as a single book. Cliffhangers are fine, chapter installments not so much for me.
